Who says our only choice is Trump/Clinton..

I don’t like either candidate.  Clinton looks like someone who has a chance of being the safes president in U. S. History..  that would be because the Secret Service will be guarding her in her prison cell.. he he.

If that happened to Trump he would just build a new prison, name it after himself, offer to manage it for the government, and move in to the Trump Cell Block Wing, you have to have extra space for the Secret Service and their hookers.

The last number of election cycles has seen a polarization of values as the left leans further left and the right leans further right..  as adherence to party policy is considered to be more important than representing the people.

Just for example, not really meaning to single him out, Joe Gruters, once the head of the Sarasota County Republican party, tried to get a resolution passed saying the Republicans would cut off Republicans who supported anyone from another party.  This attempt came about after two prominent local Republican figures endorsed a Democratic candidate for the Sarasota County School board.  The reason given was that the Democratic candidate had education experience while the Republican candidate, who had been appointed to the job by Gov. Rich Scott, had no prior experience, other than having been a student.  The resolution did not go anywhere but, it showed that Joe Gruters, and some Republicans, considered party affiliations to be more important then job qualification.

For years we have been told that the only logical choice to represent us had to come from either the Democratic, or Republican, Party..  For a lot of people this is easier to do than having to research a candidate’s position, or to fact check his opponents attacks.

The Libertarian Party is now trying to get it’s candidate, Gary Johnson, into a position where he has a chance of being included in the upcoming debates.  Gary Johnson, the ex-Governor of New Mexico, would offer an alternative choice to voters, like me, who are getting tired of the partisan mud slinging that goes on.

I would like to see more policy discussions about changes that the candidate could really implement..  As an example, Hillary Clinton told one group that she would stop companies going overseas by imposing an “exit tax”..  Could it be that she plans to bypass congress, who has sole authority over taxes, by using “Executive Orders”?

Whatever your belief about any given topic, or policy, you should have a choice other than the extreme right or left..  The political parties seem to have the idea similar to the quote from Henry Ford, which talking about the color of his cars, “they can have any color they want, as long as they want black”.  We need to convince the parties that we want more selection than just the one color, and other parties, such as the Libertarian Party, can offer that.

The people you elect will represent you.  Do you look in the mirror and see Clinton or Trump?  You should be able to pick someone who is closer to your own beliefs than the cookie cutter approach of the two parties.

What if the only choices in Ice Creme were Vanilla or Chocolate and you liked Rocky Road?  Would you just settle for buying one of those, or would you look to a store that sold Rocky Road?

Thanks,

That Joe Guy.

Ex SSgt in Air Force Security Police... I had 10 years of active duty and inactive reserve. I have a total of 20 years, includes Air Force SP, security experience. I also worked 8 years and 4 months in the Garden Center of the Sarasota Cattleman Walmart. I also took the CCNA class at Sarasota Vo-Tech, when it was still called that. I am now, since 2010 a caregiver for my Mother. While I am now a registered Republican I am more likely to vote for whichever person I believe will do a better job.. In the last presidential elections I voted Libertarian, as I the two main choices seemed to be between lying crook, or an uncouth babler who could not be trusted.
