so says a fictional Army General, Gen. Douglas Freeman, in one of Ian Slater‘s book having to do with a fictional WWiii which by the way has nothing to do with women’s wrestling. When I first read the general’s comments to the press I was torn.. Did he insult the prostitutes by not saying “they are way better than politicians and more useful”?
Then it occurred to me that this might be a very apt analogy.. Think of it.. The prostitute goes up and down the street. Dresses in a way to get your attention, and then screws you.. The politicians sometime talk about “on the street”, so yeah they are out there, they dress up as whatever might interest you. So you have one group that dresses itself as either male/female and other that clothess itself as democrat/republican. The politician/prostitute idea even works to the extent that you will wind up, once in a while, with either a cross dresser, a pre-operation transgender, or even someone who has already made the change..
In both cases it is up to you to see which one you want to rent/vote for. … There are all kinds of different directions this could go but, the main point is that when it comes to voting for a politician you should look at their real voting record… Look at what they really voted for, and YOU decide what that means… Keep in mind what they say but, compare that to how they really voted in the past..
I am reminded of the debate, I forget which one it was, between Romney and Obama. Romney accused Obama of cutting oil production by %17 when he trashed leases held by oil companies… Obama said that there was %00 production loss because they just took leases away from companies that were NOT USING them.. Obama has not been entirely truthful with us, just look at what he said about Obamacare and how not only would your premiums go down but you would not be denied your current Doctor, or policy. That was not entirely true but, did he just not understand the law he was pushing, or did he lie to us. On the other hand was Romney telling a fib by telling us about how Obama’s actions cut production… ?
When you see these ads coming out that target various politicians take time to look at the facts and decide if what they say is true…. There have been some ads that targeting Nancy Detert, put out by a group called Americans For Prosperity, that say she voted against allowing parents, with children in failing schools, go have these school turned into charter schools and run by private companies…
Nancy Detert answered that one with two points… The taxpayers bought that school, by way of the country school board, and should not just hand it over to someone who has no financial investment in it… The other is that by she did not believe a public school should be turned over to a groups that, so far, have a %5 chance of failure compared to %1 of the publics schools… So, we would take a school away from the people who invested to have it built, and turn it over to people who just move in and are 5 times more likely to fail than the public schools… then if they do fail where are we? Starting over..
There are plenty of attack ads out there, as every groups attempts to discredit what another is trying to do, by twisting the meaning of what is said, or done, in a way to make that group look bad. Some of it might even be true but, there is usually a slant on what they say.. For example there is a video where a, so called, reporter as Detert why a certain tax on business was taken out of a bill in order to benefit the wealthy and her reply was that the tax in question was in a stand alone bill and so would be redundant… He was trying to say one thing, that they were helping the wealthy by dropping a tax while she said that they dumped it because it wasn’t needed in the bill and was in one the Governor was putting forth..
The point here is simple… They can say what they want but it is up to us to figure out if what they say is “really true”…
Thanks,
That Joe Guy.
