The other day, while I was listening to the car’s radio, he made the statement that there were three subject he did not really like to get into… God, Abortion, and Guns.. and I can see where he was coming from…
I may only be 58 years old but, I have done a number of things in my life. One of which is I ran a three line Bulletin Board System built on the MajorBBS program.. I did this for seven years. I handled so called “adult” material as well as the more mundane stuff. In the discussion section I found that sometime one side, or the other, of an argument would often find that the only way they could express their argument was by calling the other person terrible name, or just using profanity, as if that proved their logic. The one who could call the other the foulest names was, obviously, more logical. I would sometimes hear the same type of thing on the radio, though there the most logical part of their speech was beeped. When I could get the Adult Usenet groups I would see the same thing there though it would not be beeped. It was often done, most often, by people with names like dickweed30 but rarely by a person who used their real name. These most logical minds would use handles that were meant to express some thought about who they were. Shy people would, for example, might use terminator331 instead of something, say a real name, that they might not see as manly enough for them. The fact that people would not know who they were would help.. These kind of people would have no problem fleshing out their arguments with the kind of logic they would not use to that person’s face.
This was pretty much why the radio show host did not like to get into those subject though he did say that if the show got slow, and you wanted more interesting subject, then you could start on one of these subject and expect the line to light up.
God, Abortion, and Guns. These are topics that will get callers inspired. Emotional topics that inspire great feelings from the left and the right. Very few people have no interest, or little interest, in these subjects. Over the next several post I am going to go, to some small degree, into these topics and give my view… after all this is Myviewbyjoe.com..

P.S. Some years ago I used to listen to a guy by the name of Tom Leykis.. I got a kick out of his method of dealing with obnoxious, or obscene caller, he would blow them up. Instead of the usual “BEEP” thing he would terminate their call with the sound of an explosion. People we ask him to “Blow me up, Tom” and he would….I just looked him up on google, and found that he had been on the air until just a few years ago, and now seemed to be on the internet, so you can find him at “Blow me up, Tom“.
